Job Description

Position Overview:

The Senior General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing general ledger activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain the general ledger to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Ensure reports are accurate, complete, and comply with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Manage and coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes. Ensure all accounting entries are recorded, reconciliations are completed, and financial statements are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Identify and address any discrepancies or issues.
  • Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation, explanations, and support. Address audit findings and implement recommendations as necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the general ledger function. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff. Oversee their work and ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments and finance team members to support cross-functional projects and initiatives. Provide financial insights and support for decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in general ledger accounting, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience with accounting software and financial systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and interact professionally with all levels of staff and management.
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role is a plus.
